Renewable Electricity

Not all energy is created equal. The good stuff – renewable energy – is sustainable, clean and generates no or less emissions during production. So the more of it your company uses, the better for the planet and everybody on it. At ACT, we partner with companies just like yours, to connect you to renewable energy solutions that fit your needs.

Reducing carbon emissions is a priority for all of us. There are a number of ways to ensure that your company can meet compliance goals and lead the way by setting its own voluntary standards. As a major global player in trading renewable energy certificates, we have the know-how, presence and reach to get you exactly where you need to go.

What do we offer?

Your company is shifting toward renewable energy sources. That’s great news, but while it’s easy to say, it’s not always easy to prove as renewably-produced electricity and gas cannot be traced once it enters the grid. That’s where ACT comes in: we are experts in helping companies to prove the renewable origins of their energy sources.

The available methods fall into three main categories:

Certificate check

Guarantee of Origin certificates (GoO)

A GoO certificate is proof that each individual MWh of your energy comes from a renewable source, such as wind, hydroelectric or solar. These certificates can only be used once which prevents issues with double-counting. An additional advantage of these credits is that they can be transferred and traded within the EU.

Power Purchase Agreements (PPA)

A PPA is a legal contract between you, as a power buyer, and an energy generator or provider. Because you can choose generators with solely renewable sources, PPAs can act as clear proof of your energy’s sustainable origins.

On-site Generation

On-site generation is the process of your company generating energy from its own power plants. It can be an effective way of proving that your energy comes from renewable sources.

Types of renewable electricity

For electricity and gas to be classed as renewable electricity, it must be generated from certain virtually inexhaustible sources. These include biomass, hydro, wind, solar and geothermal.

The benefits for you

When you take action to decrease your company’s dependence on fossil fuels, you are contributing to a better future for our planet. But there are also pragmatic reasons for making the shift. Because of its efficiency, renewable energy could actually end up being cheaper than non-renewable. Embracing sustainable options also makes a powerful statement to your stakeholders and clients about the nature of your company.
